You will need to be skilled at testing software in an Agile environment, understanding how to develop tests from requirements, and conducting exploratory tests.
In this role you’ll contribute to the continuing advancement of our testing approach too, requiring an understanding of CI and automation from a tester’s perspective, and of relevant test-driven techniques, such as BDD.
Implementing automated tests for execution in a Continuous Integration framework, based on Jenkins and GitLab
Creating and executing manual tests, e.g. for exploratory testing
Ensuring tests are aligned to requirements which are produced in an Agile way
Testing across a wide variety of software: APIs, User Interfaces and Databases
Ensuring thorough coverage in the testing of new functionality
Experience with test automation approaches, for example, Behave, Cucumber, Python unit testing, Selenium, and Nose
Confident and precise execution of manual scripted tests, with an ability to automate such tests where appropriate
Skilful in exploratory testing
Experience of testing complex web-based applications
Ability to program and execute automated tests, preferably in Python
Good Knowledge of version control systems, ideally Git
Excellent team player, working with testers, developers and management to ensure that work is being done consistently and in the right way
Must be a self-starter, able to seek and absorb information and plan your own work
Good communication skills, able to clearly articulate your thoughts, receptive to the views of others, transparent with stakeholders about your work
Experience of Agile practices: Kanban principles would be ideal but other practices would be beneficial
Some understanding of networks and of ICMP, UDP and TCP networking would be an advantage
Knowledge of HTTP and RESTful APIS
Knowledge of OO concepts, especially related to using the Python programming language from a test perspective would be useful
The ability to use or learn traffic analysis software, namely Wireshark
Any experience with traffic control software to simulate network conditions such as impairments.
Experience with using the Git version control system
Experience of at least one of the following operating systems: Windows, Mac and Linux
Some knowledge of shell scripting
Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving environment
Strong team player with good service ethic and ability to work effectively with teams outside of R&D
Conscientious, with a mindset of continuous improvement
Excellent organization skills with a keen attention to detail
Flexible and willing to take on a variety of tasks
Must be eligible to work in the UK
